Sunshine Coast Council will contribute $2 million towards the upgrade of the Sunshine Coast Stadium at Bokarina, with the Federal Govt pitching in $480,000 from their Get Playing Plus program.
The upgrade will bring the grounds up to standard to attract elite trial matches with NRL, Super Rugby and A-league all being targeted.
The work includes new mounds on the northern, eastern and southern ends of the grounds expanding capacity to 10,000 maximum, and a 36 square metre LED scoreboard/screen.
Work is expected to be completed Feb March 2017.
