For the third consecutive financial year the Sunshine Coast Council has recorded development approvals with a value in excess of $1 billion. Two significant developments alone totaled $26 million; a Medical Centre in Birtinya and a Multi Storey car park in Kawana.

A number of other developments are moving ahead in the broader Kawana area with master plan applications received for the remaining developable area of Birtinya Island, construction of a new display village at Birtinya Island, progress on the duplication of Lake Kawana Boulevard and construction of a subdivision on Entrance Island.

The Council have advertised for Expressions of Interest to develop the Brisbane Road carpark in Mooloolaba.  The area has long been a bone of contention with locals re the lack of parking, so council has wisely incorporated any proposal to include a minimum of 500 car parks.
